Daenelia on films
Hi, I am Daenelia and I am going to write about films. I am glad I make it sound so easy, because otherwise it would sound like a lot of work. If you are looking for my Dutch site on films we’re seen on Ziggo MyPrime, you need to visit film.tuxedocat.nl. Here at films.daenelia.com you will only find new posts in English, on films that I have enjoyed a lot, and have a lot to say about.
At university I did a year of film and tv studies, which was a bit disappointing. I was used to literature studies, which really dug deep into texts, subtexts, intertextuality and hypertext. … Or was that my html class? Anyway, film buffs look very differently at films, compared to bookworms. I don’t know why, but that’s what I felt. I see films and books as stories that are told in different media, but which in essence are the same. So, here, I would like to give films the same treatment I gave novels and short stories.
Films and books have influenced both the creators and the audiences. Some books don’t hit the right target until it’s been made into a film, and sometimes a film won’t ever come close to the original book. Audiences get characters easier when an actor portrays them, and sometimes they can’t agree on what actor should be chosen for a certain part. Both forms of art are sides of the same coin, to me. And it is the exchange between them that I find interesting.
So, bear with me, as I slowly write down the best of the best bits of films. It will take time, but we’re in no hurry, right?
